Celebrities Weighing in on Trump’s Impeachment Hearings

Since Trump got elected President in 2016, celebrities have been voicing their opinions about his impeachment. With the hearings finally going on, let’s look back at what celebrities had to say in the beginning of his presidency.

There has been many tweets calling for his impeachment or for him to resign back when he first got elected.

Rapper Cardi B tweeted back in September 2017 that Trump should be impeached since Bill Clinton was for sexual acts in the Oval Office.

After Trump in August 2017 commented about the tragedy in Charlottesville many celebrites took to Twitter to call for his impeachment.

Now with the impeachment hearings happening, let’s examine what celebrites are saying these days.

Alyssa Milano, actress and producer, is still tweeting in regards to the Trump impeachment. Here’s what she had to say in November 2019.

Law and Order; Special Victims star, Chris Meloni, tweeted out his opposition to the President.

While it may seem that all celebrities want Trump impeached, there has been multiple ones that have voiced their support. Kristy Swanson, American actress, said the impeachment hearings are like a “rehearsed play.”

Game show host, Chuck Woolery, quoted a tweet that featured the front cover of the NY Post.

According to a Morning Consult post, Hollywood is more liberal than the rest of the United States. Personally, I can only name quite a few celbrities that are republican.

The poll reveals the United States being mostly in the middle, but has Hollywood all the way to the left towards Liberal.

An opinion post from the New York Times by Neil Gross, stated the following: “Likewise, the Center for Responsive Politics reports that individuals and firms in the television, movie and music industries gave $84 million in campaign contributions during the 2016 election cycle, with 80 percent going to Democrats.”

Only 20 percent of the campaign contributions went to Republicans. With such a big percentage of money going towards Democrats, of course they are going to voice their opinions on the impeachment. Everyone wants who they want in office.

Popstar Selena Gomez released a new single, Lose You to Love Me, and mostly everyone believes the song is about former boyfriend Justin Bieber. After Selena posted a part of the song to her Instagram story, Hailey Bieber, Justin Bieber’s wife, posted on her story something interesting in response.

Let’s take a look.

The song is literally titled “I’ll Kill You.” Interesting choice Hailey…

One of the lines Selena posted to her Instagram was, “And two months you replaced us.” This directly correlates with Justin Bieber replacing long-time girlfriend Selena within two months of them breaking up.

Many fans of Selena believe that this song was released in spite of her love to Justin even though he is married.

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber dated much longer than Hailey has dated Justin. The two dated from 2009 to 2017, and briefly got back together in 2018 for two months.

At the end of the song, Selena says, “Now it’s goodbye for us.” It seems like Selena is putting an end to the “Jelena” chapter of her life.

Selena responded to Hailey’s post by making another Instagram story and tweet that said the same thing

Though Hailey claims it is just a “coincidence.”

Even though it may be goodbye for now, the love triangle has a possiblity of running into each other by how close they live in California.

Leonardo DiCaprio has been speaking out about problems in politics and promoting organizations for years. Even in 2016, DiCaprio met with President Trump to discuss climate change.

DiCaprio is a huge advocate for climate change. At the Oscars in 2016, DiCaprio acceptance speech turned into a political announcement. He discussed climate change and other problems like how Hollywood is divided.

Catching up to recent times, mostly everyone knows that the Amazon Rainforest was/is on fire. This sends a huge red flag for climate change advocate DiCaprio.

The Hollywood Star pledged 5 million dollars for the Amazon fires.

Leonardo even has his own foundation, The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, that advocates for protecting the Earth’s wellbeing and also animals wellbeing.

The foundation is 20-years-old this year.

Leonardo and actor Brad Pitt even appears in a public service announcement about how important it is that you get out and vote.

Cardi B, famous rapper and singer, has been voicing her support for Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders over the past few months. She has even had sit down interviews with him.

Though, Bernie Sanders recently had a heart attack, which may not him out of the race for 2020. Cardi B says that she doesn’t think this is it for Sanders and that just because you have a heart attack doesn’t mean your career is over.

Where did this political talk come from within Cardi? She was a former stripper and is currently married to Migos rapper, Offset. Cardi is also from New York.

If you aren’t a part of Cardi’s “Bardi Gang” you may not know that Cardi B’s history or interest with politics goes back to when she took AP Government in high school.

Cardi B, in my opinion, attracts a lot of different backgrounds and a good amount of diversity. When people follow her or view her social media, they don’t always know what to expect.

Taylor Swift was once quiet about her political views, and mostly everyone thought she was a conservative. In recent years though, Taylor has voiced her opinions and support for the LGBTQ community and Democrat candidates in Tennessee.

With being a country artist from Tennessee, it was shocking to some republicans and conservatives when Taylor expressed her support of the democrats.

A lot of people believe that Taylor is lying about being Democrat, and that she only is “trying” to fit in with the rest of Hollywood.

Taylor has voiced her new support in the LGBTQ movement and faced backlash from the White House after her speech at the MTV music awards turned into talking about how there needs to be equality for all.

Her song “You Need To Calm Down” is in support for the Equality act, and even has a petition to sign at the end of the music video.

Ever since Trump has been President, rapper Kanye West has been one of the only Hollywood celebrities to voice his support for the President. Of course, that came with a lot of backlash for Kanye and wife Kim, but they have been putting their support of President Trump to good use.

Both Kim and Kanye have been working with Trump on the United States prison reform. Their most popular one they worked with Trump on was getting Alice Johnson.

Alice Johnson was sentenced to life in prison without parole almost 22 years ago. After hearing her story, Kim Kardashian met with President Trump at the White House.

President Trump granted Alice clemency after the meeting with Kim.

In my opinion, I think it is great Kim Kardashian wants to work on prison reform with Trump. I also think it is great that Kanye voices his support for the President because not a lot of Hollywood stars that may be in support of Trump do.

Whether you agree with Kanye or not, everyone has a right to voice their opinions freely in this country. I think these two are an awesome couple, that genuinely want to help people out. They don’t seem to mind what everyone has to say about them and I think that is something everyone needs to think of.

In a previous post, I discussed Chrissy Teigen and how long she has been tweeting at Trump and about Trump. Though, she isn’t the only celebrity that has taken to social media to strongly discuss their views.

Politicians and celebrities go head-to-head on social media all the time, but especially since Trump has been elected President.

Some you may be familiar with, and some you may not be familiar with, so that is why I believe it is important to show what celebrities have posted about politics. That way we can compare and contrast what they said and what they didn’t say.

In the following days, you will find a post about Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, and other celebrities like Taylor Swift.

Should celebrities keep their opinions to themselves? Or, should they be able to freely voice them like any other American.

It seems as if Twitter has erupted after the Cowboys-Packers game that happened on October 6. Though, maybe not for the reason you expected. Ellen DeGeneres and George W. Bush both were in attendance and sat beside each other.

While at the game, cameras cut to the two and showed them on the big screen laughing and having a good time with each other.

Apparently, that angered a lot of people. On Twitter, people talked about her being gay and liberal and him being a conservative republican.

Ellen took to her own television show to discuss the backlash.

On the show, Ellen displayed a tweet that said something along the lines of having restored faith in America after the two were shown sitting with each other.

Here is what one of the comments under Ellen’s post said. “He’s a war criminal, Ellen. Directly responsible for the murder of 100s of thousands of Iraqis, largely women, children, and the elderly. What’s it like to be this shamelessly desperate for ‘access’ and attention?”

Mark Ruffalo, actor in the famous Avengers movies, had a bunch to say about the two together at the game.

Actresses Reese Witherspoon, Susan Sarandon, and Kristen Bell are at odds with Ellen’s comment about George W. Bush.

People have made comments about how George W. Bush is not friends with the LGBTQ community. One which Ellen is proudly a part of.

The LGBTQ is a tight nit community who faces backlash and controversy all the time. Some feel that since George W. Bush is not a support of the LGBTQ community, that Ellen should not be friends with him.

We now see how people feel when celebrities with different opinions get together and hang out in public. Apparently, to some people this is much deeper than just hanging out at a football game.

Mostly all politicians have taken to Twitter to discuss there stance on the “whistleblower.” This whistleblower is centered around the new impeachment inquiry by the Democrats.

Whether you agree with it or not, the tweets that have been coming in are nasty, but also quite entertaining. Even Democrat Senator Kamala Harris, who is also running for President, asked the CEO of Twitter to suspend Donald Trump’s account.

If you don’t know what the whistleblower is, let me give you a little detailed explanation. Basically, Trump talked to the leader of Ukraine and according to the whistleblower Trump tried to get the Ukraine leader to dig up dirt on former VP Joe Biden.

The tweets have been back and forth between the Democrats and the Republicans. It seems to never end with these two parties.

Am I the only one who just wants both sides to stop? I have an idea. How about they just sit down, the old fashion way, and talk about their problems instead of blasting them all over Twitter. Sheesh!

In the midst of all the mayhem, according to The Hill Trump’s approval rating hits an all time high for the 2019 year.

Let’s now take a look at a Google Trends search, which you may find interesting. It seems as since the start of Donald Trump’s presidency you hear all the time about impeachment. Though according to Google Trends, it hasn’t been a topic of interest on Google since recently.

So what we might seem like a “trend” or something we hear of a lot, doesn’t seem to be an interest on Google. According to the graph, we do se a sudden spike in all three in the current time. We see impeachment go from 0 to 100.

I admit it’s hard to keep up when so much news is coming in so fast. As the political Twitter seems to go up in flames, I’m sure that America will discover the truth soon.

If you have Twitter or have been on Twitter lately, you’ll know of the trending hashtag #ShutDownDC. Basically, this hashtag is a part of the climate strike going in D.C. right now. Coincidentally, the strike is the same day as the United Nations summit in New York about climate change.

These “climate strikers” have taken to the streets to embrace their feelings on the climate and how it needs to be important.

Though people have a lot to say about them blocking roads and disrupting people’s day-to-day life.

Here is what the CEO of a conservative led foundation, American Majority, had to say about the protestors:

Surprisingly, there isn’t much said by celebrities or Trump about the DC climate strike, so if awareness is what they are trying to bring they aren’t doing it correctly.

As if that isn’t attention grabbing, we need to focus more on the summit going on in New York because taking to the streets and throwing confetti isn’t doing too much for the enviroment.

A 16-year-old climate activist, Greta Thunberg, had a lot to say about the climate.

Before the summit even started, Trump tweeted out that he would be headed to New York and that our country would be well-represented. Film maker, Morgan Freeman, commented back to Trump about being well-represented.

With great shock, Trump is actually not attending the summit, but did have a moment to drop by. Instead, he is sending Marcia Bernicat, Principle Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and Environmental and Scientific Affairs, to act on behalf of him.

Not many people are hopeful that this summit will bring much change or hope to our environment.

We can only pray that raising awareness, whether it be in the streets or picking up trash, that the world will soon recognize that we can’t continue to live like this.
